On Wednesday 10th November Tim Farron paid a visit to Towcester Town Hall to speak to local members about the work of the coalition government and the need for the party to maintain its individuality.
Tim spent time chatting to members from across the county before delivering a passionate speech on the need to make sure the Liberal Democrat message is not lost in this time of coalition.
“It was a great evening. It was great to hear how the Lib Dem promises of a fairer tax system, the pupil premium and the referendum on a fairer voting system next May and being pushed forward” said Scott Collins, Parliamentary Spokesman for South Northants.
Tim said “We are getting fairer taxes, better funding for the pupils that need it most, a referendum on voting reform. What we are not getting at the moment is credit for doing it”.
“We need to continue to fight for Lib Dem values and make sure we remind the public what Conservative Councils are doing to local services now and have been long before the coalition started”.
Tim wished the local party well in its campaigns up to the next local elections next May and hoped to make a visit again nearer the election.
