Last week Scott Collins attended the launch of Inspiration FM community radio in Northampton.
The Radio station based in Sheep Street launched after over 14 years of campaigning for a full 24/7 licence to broadcast will be broadcasting on 107.8FM.
The station which had broadcast under temporary and short term licences previously will now broadcast on a regular basis with daily programmes transmitting almost 24 hours a day.
A statement released by the station said
“After fourteen long years and hundreds of thousands of community volunteering hours. Inspiration FM Multi- Cultural Community Radio went live on Saturday 24th July with a 5 year Ofcom Community Radio license.
The Mayor and the community turned out see the cutting of the ribbons and unveiling of the new studios. Please visit our website to listen live and also see photos of the launch.”
Scott said after attending the launch “Its a pleasure to be here at the launch of a real genesis project that has already showed how it can influence the lives of young people and those of older years to work for their communities and help give a number of communities across Northampton a voice on the airwaves”
Commenting further Scott said “You cant help but be impressed at the children that interviewed the Mayor (fellow Lib Dem Cllr Marrianne Taylor) they were so professional and with some great questions Its a testament to the hard work put in by people like Jenny Campbell and Mark Dean and the whole team at Inspiration FM”
